Double Glazing / Insulated Glass Unit

General Properties:

  • Constructed from two or more glass panes separated by an insulating air or argon-filled space.

  • Provides thermal insulation by preventing heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer.

  • Reduces energy consumption and lowers heating and cooling costs.

  • Blocks external noise and enhances acoustic comfort indoors.

  • Minimizes condensation and fogging on interior glass surfaces.

  • Can be combined with Low-E, reflective, laminated, or tempered glass types.

Applications:

  • Residential exterior windows

  • Commercial and office facades

  • Storefront glazing and display windows

  • Glass partitions and balcony systems

  • Energy-efficient green building projects

Technical Specifications:

  • Total thickness: 14 mm – 40 mm

  • U-value: 1.0 – 2.8 W/m²K

  • Sound insulation: 30 – 40 dB

  • Light transmittance: 70% – 80%

  • Gas filling: Air or Argon (optional)

  • Standards: EN 1279, ISO 9001, CE Certified

Glass Combination Table:

Inner Glass (mm) Spacer (mm) Outer Glass (mm) Total Thickness (mm) Notes
4 12 4 20 Standard residential window use
4 16 4 24 Enhanced insulation performance
6 12 6 24 Larger spans, better sound control
6 16 6 28 Improved thermal insulation
6 16 8 30 Curtain wall and office facades
4 10 6 20 Asymmetrical build, sound-prioritized
4 20 4 28 Wider gap for lower U-value
5 12 5 22 Medium-scale general applications
6 20 6 32 Maximum insulation for custom projects

Design Considerations:

  • Thickness and gap should be selected based on climate zone and building orientation.

  • Asymmetrical or laminated glass should be used for sound-sensitive areas.

  • Proper U-value and gas filling are key for condensation prevention.

  • Accurate cutting plans reduce waste and lower costs.
